Shahara N. Byford

Shahara Byford is the Owner and Founder of Byford Construction, Inc.  She is an accomplished, African American, female that has over 25 years of experience in the Chicagoland construction industry.  Shahara has a unique blend of operational project management expertise and executive leadership in human resources and organizational culture.  She previously led the corporate Human Resources and Culture department for the largest general contractor in Chicago where she focused on developing talent, strengthening culture, and building high performing teams.  

Shahara is a graduate of Purdue University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and Roosevelt University, where she earned a Master of Science in Human Resource Management.  She is a Certified Professional in Human Resources and an ICF Certified Executive Coach.  

As a former collegiate student athlete, Shahara is deeply committed to leadership, mentorship, and teamwork.  She is passionate about giving back and serves on the Purdue University Construction Advisory Council, the Advisory Board for The Will Group, and the Executive Board of Directors for Revolution Workshop and Girls in the Game, organizations dedicated to creating opportunity and empowering the next generation.
